Smokin' lady!

So today on the bus to get to work, there was this little old Indian lady sitting next to me.  She was wearing a white scarf, thick glasses and blue socks in her black sandals.

I thought she looked like she raised a few dozen kids.  Then I thought, wow, she's probably a super cute grandma too.

Then just when I was looking at her thinking that, she reached into her bag and from a big baggie, took out a square piece of cardboard, with what looked like sheets of paper in it.  So I thought, oh wow, she's gonna read her little bible here on the bus.  How nice it is to have people still loyal to their beliefs, and how important it is to have faith.

Then she proceeded to open what now looked like matches.  But with paper.  Then she took out a small sheet of paper.  It looked like rolling paper.  Then I thought, Oh My God, she's gonna roll herself a cigarette, right here on the bus!!  Then I thought, OH MY GOD, she's gonna roll herself a medicinal joint!!!

Then she took the small sheet of paper, and cleaned her glasses....

Dead bird

Weird!  Today our plan was to do a little gardening with Baby in the playpen outside.  When I opened the front door to walk out, what did I see?  A dead bird, right there on the porch!  It was a black-capped chikadee (holly crap, I found a website that translates bird names: http://www.knutas.com/birdsearch/ (I bookmarked it, shhhh)).  But my front door is not transparent, right, so how the heck did it end up dying there?

  • It had something in it's eye and couldn't avoid flying in the opaque door.
  • It ate too much pizza for lunch and couldn't control it's course.
  • It had a lobotomy.
  • Poor thing just had a heart attack while flying and crashed on my door step.
What do you think?

I think C.L.'s wife would love that website, eh Link? :)

Something cute today, I caught Daddy singing a Christmas song to Baby to help him sleep.  It was Silent  Night.  Huh, who knew a man could choose appropriate songs to sing to babies, of all things!

Love, all around! xox

XXX

So, I was looking at MSN news in french, and they had an article on penises....

They have 10 short stories of men and their weird penises. I'll try and translate the interesting stuff:

  • Juan Baptista dos Santos, born 1863  in Portugal with 2 penises.  He was even able to pee with both at the same time, and even have a double erection...

  • In 1996, following an penile implant that didn't turn out well, Charles «chick» Lenon, 68 years old, had to live with an erection for 10 years...

  • Car Carrol cut his penis in half.  Why?  Because he said that it brought him a lot of pleasure in his sexual life, mentionning that the separation  gives his the sensation of 2 erections...

  • (This one is my favourite)  WIth his 9,75 inch penis, american porn actor  Ron Jeremy played in over 2000 XXX movies.  That won him a place in the Guiness Records.  They say he had intercourse with 4000 women.  He's also known for his ability to self-fellate (not sure of the term)

  • (Grossest thing ever)  In Japon, when a Japanese mafia member, known as Jakuza, is emprisonned, he's obligated to follow this freaky tradition: for every year of emprisonment, he inserts a pearl in his penis!  It is said that it bring more pleasure to women.  (Although I doubt it's a big turn on for women to see...)

So folks, that was my penis post for the year.  Enjoy!!

Rest in Peace

What a day. Today, I learned about 3 deaths.

First one is someone in our community, an ex political figure who did a lot for our city. M. Robert Middlemiss. I was told he had lung cancer and that it spread to his brain.

Second touches me a lot. A girl my age I met a couple years ago, who was my friend's roommate. I learned a few months ago that her mom had a really strong cancer, but I can't remember which one. She had a rough time, but she had managed to get better. I was happy for them, because I lost a parent too, so I really felt for her. But I guess she eventually got bad again, because she passed away this morning. The good news in all this is that she had her daughter and husband with her. I think that's the best way to go, surrounded by the people you love most.

And I just read about the passing of an actor I appreciated most for his role in one of my favourite movies, "Speed", Dennis Hopper. He died at the age of 74 from prostate cancer.

So in honour of all these trips back home, I say to you: "Life is short, live it well".

Thus ends the first week of work

It's over! I survived! :)

It's now actually starting to feel as if I never left. I mean besides aaalllll the changes there has been in the past year, going to work feels just like before. I guess that's a good thing.

Baby had an amazing week at daycare too. Thanks to antibiotics, he's now his old self again. I'm thinking of bringing him to Cosmic Adventures tomorrow (Chucky Cheese kinda place, for my US friends).

I don't have much to write tonight, I'm really tired and I'd like to get in bed to read. Tomorrow is a big day, Daddy's working so it's just me and Baby!

I updated my blog's look a bit. And there's a new poll!! Look for it every time you come visit!

Follower # 10!

Wow, let's celebrate! 10 readers!!!

Big shout out to my buddy TINA!! I dunno which Tina, but heeeeeey girl! :P

I did it. I'm working again!

OMG. No time to blog!!

Ok, today was my 2nd day at work. Fabulous! My first day went really well, Daddy gave me a ride to work (I usually take the bus). It was a day of setting my office up, passwords and stuff. I have a different office than when I left, so I had to get everything back to how I want it. And Office furniture, of course! I thought my day would feel super lonely and depressing, but, surprise surprise, it was not! It was a great day, setting my second home up, catching up with coworkers. I was happy to be there and the day actually flew by!

Second day, I needed coffee. Oh lord, how do people work, do house chores and have kids at the same time? Heck if I know! But I'll try to find a way to get my schnit together! Went out to lunch with my new team, which is (I'll be damned!) better than the one I had last year :) Minus Val, I miss Val. Thank goodness she works across the floor and I can walk to her office! My new team is great, laid back, smart and efficient. Stress at work will be mostly absent, we'll do great all 5 of us.

Our work tools and documents have been updated and made better. Our way to work will be way more efficient, less wasted time, more productive! I'm eager to get my hands in it! All my accesses to our software were cancelled, so it'll take a week, maybe 2 to get them all back.

I realized I missed adults :) At work, I'm not a mommy, I'm a woman, a collegue, a friend. So nice!! I didn't know I missed it until yesterday. This afternoon, the main water pipe to the building broke, so they kicked us out until it's fixed, so maybe a day or two! Isn't that a hoot!

Geez, I've been writing too long, gotta get cracking on dinner! Dolly, I hope you get my email replies, it seems like I always get new emails from you, not replies. I hope you don't think I'm not thinking about you, I am! And I have to come see your new daycare!! I'm excited to know how you're organized!

If I don't update my blog enough, yell at me: mjdufresne@hotmail.com (thanks to Dolly for reminding me!)

HUGSSSSS!

2 days

wahhhhhhhh :(

Had a GREAT day with the family today. SPent some quality time together, great meals, lots of smiles! Even had fun going to Walmart to buy diapers :P

I can't believe this is my last night on maternity leave. Time goes by so fast, it's mesmerizing. I'm sad to leave my life at home, but happy to start my working life again.

I won't wallow in pity tonight. I'm spending time with Daddy and tomorrow it's quality time at the beach with my brother and his girl. I'm excited, it'll be fun: sun, sand, water, picnic, good company! How could I ask for more?!

I have to remember to register for June 12th bike ride with the city, and I'll be talking more about Baby's birthday in 3 weeks. I have to get at it soon!

Love you all!!! xox

5 days

Double sniff...

Today, I convinced myself that going back to work isn't all that bad. Sure, I'll be more tired, but I should be used to it by now. I'm most looking forward to working on interesting projects and seeing my good pal Melanie everyday, although she's only back from mat leave in August. Life at work would be SO boring if she wasn't there!

Today, I also saved my boss almost 1400$, seeing as I was about to register for a conference on Public Finances, and he gave me the go ahead without looking at the registration fees. I made sure with him before going ahead with it; I'm familiar with our learning bugdet. And he was very grateful I took the time to think and realize the impacts on our budget. One point for me!

Today, I realized that I love my life. Simply, that I'm happy, with all the imperfections it holds. I'm just happy :) I also realized that I wanna be a mom again, real soon. So let's get crackin'!

Today, I also noticed that my bird feeder doesn't last a week when it's full. Damn bird get them all over the patio instead of their bellies. Pigs. But I'm happy to see them around the house. Minus the poop. Which Daddy got on him last week. Fell right from the sky. Apparently, it's a sign of luck!

Tonight, I'm going to bed late. I plan on reading a lot. My darn book is too interesting. And I have a long list of errands tomorrow. Bah well! So be it!

Good night invisible friends, I hope you make your lives as happy as mine! xoxo

9 days

Sniff..

Daddy's in a bad mood because the Habs are loosing 4-0 in the 2nd period of game 1 against Philly. My brother's like that too. Funny, I don't get all moody when people get booted off SYTYCD...

Anywho, what a day! It was a sunny summer-like day, just beautiful. I slept in (used some mommy points) till 8, went to breakfast with my aunts and grampa. Then spent the afternoon biking with Daddy and Baby. A stupid jerk driver almost hit Daddy at a stop while he was crossing on his bike with the baby trailer. Jerk yelled at Daddy and I was surprised Daddy kept his cool. We saw the car again 5 minutes later in the marina parking lot and he yelled at us again. I lost MY cool, yelled at him and flipped him the bird. Then I said a lot of unholy words under my breath. Sucks that lots of people were watching. I had to ask Daddy to stop on the side of the street to catch my breath, I was shaking, frustrated and crying. Daddy encouraged me and supported me, and we continued our ride. PHEW, what an experience!

Then after dinner, on our way driving to the grocery store, a car accident happened, with the car right in front of us. The car had a big dent on the side, the young girls pretty shaken up. The van that missed their stop and rammed them had lost the entire bumper and was leaking fluid on the pavement. I was driving and got out of the car to offer my cell phone, but the neighbours had already called the police. It wasn't a big accident, it was a residential neighbourhood, but the passengers were visibly upset. Seb was more shaken than me, thinking it could have been us! I guess I had used all my adrenaline earlier with the jerk driver.

I'd say it was an eventful day. I'm really grateful that we were spared in the car accident. Even if no one was hurt and it wasn't that serious, I'm glad it wasn't us 3 in that car. I've definitely have some road angels.

It's late now, and Daddy and I are cooking some baby food and it smells yummy. We have 4 recipes to make, 2 tonight and 2 tomorrow. We'll be good for a while after that. I find it hard to just make a meal on the spot for a baby, given that he can't have food that's too solid. Now, we're more organized. YES!!

I hope you have road angels too and that you cherish your time with your loved ones. Accidents happen in the blink of an eye. Thanks Dad for watching over us. I miss you everyday. xox

Mister Gaga

This kid is amazing, I love his version of the song!  You go, little dude!
His name is Greyson, he was invited on the Ellen show.  Even talked on the phone with Gaga, she was a real sweetheart.  Very inspirational, who knew!  This is the video that got him on the map.

Sniff...

Today, I went shopping for work clothes.  I'm not a big shopper, nor have I any talent in choosing clothes, but damn!  I did a good job :)  The plan was to start easy and do one store I know that I can usually find a thing or two.  Little did I know that I'd spend 370$ at that store alone in an hour!  Got myself some nice button down shirts, 2 skirts (which is big for me, I'm not a dressy kinda person...well until now :), one blue cotton dress, a cami and a really nice pant suit.  I watch What Not to Wear, I made an effort!

I'm feeling a wee bit alone tonight, Daddy is working late tonight AND tomorrow.  Tomorrow, it's the big car wash!  Going to my aunt's to take advantage of her huge driveway.  Inside out, she'll be squeeky clean!  And between tomorrow and next week, I have a huge pile of clothes to iron.  My least favourite task. Bleh!

Well, my strawberries are starting to look funny, so gotta go make a nice fruit salad.  Then I'm sitting my ass in front of the TV.  A rare delicacy for me, woo!

Have a good night, invisible friends!  Let me know if you need a hand shopping, I think I'm getting good at it! xoxo

12 days of Christmas

I can't believe it.  12 days 'till I go back to work.  NOOOOOOOOO!!  Countdown has begun.
I'm so sad.  I'll have a new office and a new team, so it'll kinda be like starting a new job.  Ugh.  I wanna stay home!  Ok, I'm done whining.  I'll just cry... :P

The stupid kitchen faucet has broken.  Again.  And it's a different one from last time.  I think that sink has bad karma... And of course, stores just closed.  Daddy went to Canadian Tire 30 mins before closing time to try and get a replacement piece.  He didn't find one.  So we'll have to wait till tomorrow to go to Rona and get a new piece.  They should have them.  Of course, there's only one valve under the sink for the hot water, so we have to turn the house water off until we fix it.  Effing thing, old plumbing I guess.  So tonight, we brush our teeth in a bowl...

Apart from that, I had a good day.  Went to take some electronics to be recycled, my good deed of the day. I also went to buy myself a few pieces of jewelry for work.  I might start shopping for clothes tomorrow too.  I'll need a size smaller than I was before, ain't that nice!   I won't splurge though, cuz i might start to balloon again before the year ends.. :)  (I'm not pregnant yet.  You'd know. I'd have written it in caps.  twice.  and then some.)

Baby is doing wonderfully at daycare!  He's really happy, he got used to solid foods and chewing with his 4 tiny teeth!  He doesn't cry anymore, which says a lot for this little mister, he's got quite a personality.  Let's us know when something is not right with him!  A little girl has come down with hand, foot and mouth disease at daycare.  I hope he doesn't catch it, although chances are high since it's very contagious.  At least my mom will be available this summer to babysit him if he can't go to daycare, save us some very limited time off.

Well, I'm out of conversation for tonight.  Will go to bed early, might get a good night sleep, ahhhhhh!
Sweet dreams and Godspeed to you all! xox

Happy Mother's Day!

My first one :)

It's amazing to have a day to get gifts like that, I didn't expect any!  To me, it still feels like mother's day is for my mom, not me.  But even my twin brother had a surprise gift for me!

It was a great weekend.  Still hardcore sick with the flu, but on the way to recovery.  My voice has broken, I sound like a smoking trucker... :S  I guess it's kinda sexy? lol...NOT!

I had big plans for my remaining 2 weeks of mat leave, but I think my plans now will be to recover and rest, because after I return to work, time off will be sparse.  And relaxation will not be part of my vocabulary anymore.  Sniff..

Medical appointment with Baby tomorrow, dinner with mom Tuesday, chiro wednesday.  In between?  Sleep.

I love daycare. (Oh, they looooooved the flowers I had sent them for Mother's Day, it was a hit!)

*How is it that I always plan to just write a few lines because I'm tired and wanna get to bed, and I end up writing a lot...*

And now I'm hungry....argh!  But I'm more tired than hungry, so my bed is winning tonight.
Nighty night, invisible friends!

Mega Millions Winner

Is unknown!

Someone bought a one dollar ticket in Los Angeles for yesterday's 266$ million dollar draw, won the whole damn money and didn't bother to get themselves to the lottery bureau!  Hey dude, you won 266 mil...get off your but and claim it!

What would you do with that much money?

I's start by buying a nice home, nice cars.  Then give away to immediate family.  Then some to our closest friends.  Then we'd pick charities that need money badly.  Then some to medical research.

Then I'd have fun and buy clothes, shoes, bags, and we'd travel!!

And I'd buy Chris a Mac.  :)

Baby shower cakes!

Damn, I almost forgot to show you my works of art! bahahah (you should know that accountants don't have a shred of art in them...)

I made these!  Didn't make them up, but I followed the instructions and made them according to my client's desire.

I will survive!

As long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive!

I'm starting to get back on my feet after a mean stomach bug.  Oh, how it wasn't a fun 24 hours.  I'm still drinking electrolytes to get my hydration back.  I'm hoping Daddy didn't catch it.

He went to stay with his parents for a day and a night with Baby so they wouldn't catch anything from me. And I got my wonderful mommy to take care of me.  I thank God for her, I would have been a million times more miserable if she hadn't been there.

Baby isn't clear of his ear infection yet, he even got one booboo more: eye infection.  But it's been 2 days and it's almost gone, no biggie.  He's still feverish, on and off.  Grrrr, I hate that.  But his mood and energy are just way up there, so it's not too too bad.

So Mother's Day is coming!!!  I have a flower bouquet that'll be delivered to the ladies of our daycare on Friday, I think they'll like it :)  I'm also sending a fruit basket to my mom's work to share with her coworkers.  She'll love that too!  And since it's her birthday on the same day as Mother's Day, we're surprising her at the cottage, with food, family and lots of love!!  It'll be awesome!

Which reminds me, I still have to plan Daddy's 30th and Baby's 1st birthday!

And I'm going back to work in less than a month.  sniff.... But don't worry, I'll be back on maternity leave before you know it!  shhhh.....

Have a little prayer for the Habs playing the Pens tomorrow, we need Syndey Crosby to LOOSE!!  And make a happy Daddy and happy Brother too.

Time for bed.  Sweet dreams, invisible friends.  Lots of love and health to you! xox
