I gotta feeling, wooooohooooo!

Well folks, I gotta feeling that this daycare's gonna be a good daycare.

I had already met her and signed the one year contract because I had a good feeling about it.  Today, I went again, this time with Hubby.  He had the same feeling.  A good one.  Maybe we won't hit strike 3 after all....Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, but I have my fingers crossed.  We start in a week.

In other news, Mother is getting married!  Yes, after almost 4 years of being a widow, she has found her second true love.  Although I still miss my Daddy dearly, I know he's happy for her.  I really like Daddy2, and he treats my mom like a real woman.  And they are SO in love (it's almost sickening).  I'm looking forward to the wedding.  Seeing your parent wed is a privilege, and I will relish every moment.

Hubby has also been extra good lately, so it's been a good time lately.  Baby is still having trouble sleeping, but I'm getting used to it.  Still a bit stressed about starting daycare, I know Baby will have a hard time adjusting, but Babysitter had 6 kids, so I know he's in good hands.

Life has been good lately, and I'm really happy to be living the life I'm living.  Daddy, I miss you it hurts so much, but I know you are close and I still feel you around.  Thank goodness, the hole in my life would be unbearable!

Invisible friends, I hope your lives are as happy as mine.  Take some time to think back on it and appreciate the good things.  Life is short, might as well make it a good trip!

Sending love to all of you, may God bless you all.  xoxo

15 years later

Ricky Martin has come out as a homosexual.  Hurray for him!!

Unfortunately, he had been told that an earlier coming out would have ruined his career.  How sad is that.  Playing make-believe to keep a paycheque coming.  I can't imagine what homosexuals and bisexuals deal with in their everyday life.  Must be horrible.  I wish that our society was more evolved and sexual preference would be regarded with as much attention as one's favourite pair of shoes...

Ricky, you go girl!  Bless you for being yourself!

The Mad Hatter

How to recognize a parent?

From the bags under their eyes.  Thank goodness for concealer.

Sleep deprivation is a cruel enemy.  Lucky am I to have a partner that is understanding and supportive.  I also have to point out that female hormones are also a vile enemy...

This weekend we get a break.  We get to spend the weekend in Montreal, the guys go see the Habs play and we go to the spa.  Alleluia!  I'm looking forward to the good times, the good food, the good alcohol (hey, I'm no angel, just a cheap drunk (in moderation of course!)) and the lack of crying!  And on top of that, I get to miss my little baby and appreciate seeing him again on Sunday.  We have a WINNER!!!

I'd like to thank Jodi Mindell for writing a book called "Sleeping through the night".  It brings me comfort to know that I'm not the only exhausted person with a baby that has trouble napping.  Thank the Lord, he sleeps all night.  I think I'd go mad, like the Mad Hatter.  I just don't like tea much.

Speaking of which, I definitely have to go see that new movie in 3D.  On the (long, exhaustive) to-do list.  On top of the entertainment section.

Now, time to take care of those bags under my eyes....SLEEP!
Goodnight, farewell, au revoir!!

Eenie-meenie-miny-moe!

Good evening invisible friends!

I'm disturbed by a song I heard on the radio tonight.  It goes: "shorty is an eenie-meenie-myni-moe lover".  I thought, now the author of that song spends way too much time with toddlers.  That, or he's paid quite well to make a fool of himself singing that!  (Just Googled it, it's Sean Kingston and, oh God, Justin Bieber.)....(Justin is tiny, maybe Sean was singing about him...gggrrrrrrr!)

In other news, today was a rough day.  I had to break up with a babysitter.  But it went well.  You know, those kids of situation that make both parties awkwardly uncomfortable, but yet you have to go through it? One of those.  I went to pick up my son's stuff, it was weird and awkward, but it's over.  At least, a confrontation would have been worse!

So we start a new daycare in 2 weeks, I'm pretty stressed out.  Sonny has a big case of separation anxiety, we're trying to get through it.  I hope the new daycare will know how to manage that.  At least he'll be with a bunch of other babies his age.  Phew!

I'm being a good housewife by baking some good ol' banana muffins right now.  The house smells nice.  I'm looking forward to making a big cake for a baby shower in May.  It'll be extra nice :)  I'll post pictures.

I'll leave you on a couple of sayings I read the other day.  Made me smile.

"War is not about who is right...it's about who's left..."

"Love is grand....divorce is a hundred grand..."

Good night world, please bring me nice dreams this time.  I'd like to feel rested tomorrow morning, I've got farms to fertilize.

It's Spring!

Ah, the smell of freshly thawed dog poop, the mud and the rain...Lucky us, none of that this year!

Did the ground ever freeze?  Yeah, for like a week.

Time for spring cleaning!  I've been meaning to go through my stuff and give away what I don't need.  This is the perfect time to do it: the sun is out.  That means my mood is up = more patience = more cleaning out things = less clutter.  Ahhhhhh, I feel good just writting about it!

But spring also means going back to work.  Snifffffff.  I'm glad to be going back, but it'll probably last 2 days or so.  I'll miss my little guy so much.  He better love his new daycare because I'm not going to tolerate any bad babysitters anymore.  It's going to be freeeegggggin' expensive, but as long as he's a happy baby, I'll be a happy mom.

Oh, and it's tax time too.  And I owe a lot :(  They don't take a lot of taxes off our mat leave pay, so we get a nice big bill from the governement in April.  Thank goodness I plan ahead!  Still sucks to have a nice big bank account get almost empty, even when you knew it was going to happen.  I need to win the lottery...

The sun is out, that means walking with Jacob to the Salvation Army to give away a bag of things.

Have a great day, invisible friends! xo

Embrace Life

Talk about a touching commercial:

Wear your seatbelt.   I think there's no simpler message than that.

Ladies first

Men, listen up.

We may be independant, we may be earning our own money, and we may not even need you to mow the lawn.  But this, this we need.  We're women afterall.  It's human nature:

1.  Open doors. No need to walk 20 paces ahead of me to open every single door, but if you get there, open it for me, and make sure you don't let it slam on the elderly couple walking behind.

2. Ladies first.  If a man is walking with me and he lets me go inside first or is guiding me through a crowd, his hand gently touching the small of my back, it makes me melt.  Why does it make me weak in the knees? He is protecting me, guiding me, but not smothering me — that is the sign of as true gentleman.

3. Care about me. I love it when a man is concerned if I am not feeling well, and that he encourages me to take care and eat enough. I love when he makes sure to remind me to wear gloves on a cold winter day.  Little things that tells me you care about my health and my well being.

4. Give me a hand.  Taking my hand and helping me up steps, hills, rocks, uneven terrain makes us melt. We might love those four-inch pumps we're wearing, but we don't do so well on cobblestone or sprinting through a patch of grass, so lend a hand when the situation calls for it.

For the lovely ladies in your life, please be gentlemen.  We'll love you a gazillion more for it!

Beef of the day

You know when you go shopping, and sometimes you pick up an item you're not too sure about?  Or sometimes you just don't have time to try it on?

So you buy it.

And then at the cash, they tell you that to get a reimbursement, the tags need to be on the items.

So my beef is:  How the HELL are you supposed to wear the item with the tags still on and showing?!
For crying out loud!!

If they can put the tags ON, they can put some back on if you return an item without them, GEEZ!
Ok, so I never worked retail and I don't really know how it works, but sakidou, that would make a lot of darn sense!

Breathe in, breathe out.

Oh, I bought a nice red trench coat.  You should see it, it's wonderful.  Even with tags still on...

Stupidest celebrity quotes

Seen on MSN:

Christina Aguilera: "So, where's the Cannes Film Festival being held this year?" (I guess she failed geography..)

Britney Spears: "The cool thing about being famous is travelling. I have always wanted to travel across seas, like to Canada and stuff." (Her too...maybe they were in the same class)

Mariah Carey: "My mother is Irish, my father is black and Venezuelan, and me? I'm tan, I guess."  (I guess she's color blind?!)

Brooke Shields: "Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life." (Really, Brooke?)

Kate Moss: "Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels." (uh huh..that makes total sense)

Arnold Schwartz&Burger: "I think that gay marriage should be between a man and a woman."

The more time you spend on your body, the more cells die in your brain?....
Bottom line: stay in school!

Good night and Godspeed, invisible friends!

Surprise, mommy!

I got a suprise from my little one today.  A smelly one.

After his bottle, I laid him down in his crib, in his shirt and diaper, and he was very sleepy.  Little did I know, he had other plans.

He was making noise in his room, but he usually does before he falls asleep so I didn't go for about 20 minutes.  Then I wondered what was going on.

Here's the damage I found.  No words needed.

This is the aftermath.  And he was quite happy about it too...

Oh, how much we love 'em!! xoxox

If the shoe fits...

Well, the time has come, my friends.  Time to buy that first pair of shoes for my little boy!  Seems like he only started to crawl, but the fingerprints on my patio door about 2 1/2 feet from the floor tell me diffently.  Ah, how time flies!  And how I know that this first pair will be expensive..!  And how I so know that it'll fit for a few weeks!  Ah, the joys of spending on someone other than yourself :)

I'm cold.

Why?

My furnace broke this morning.  Not the first time.  I have to say, poor thing is 17 years old.  Maybe that's why it's difficult, I sure was at that age ;)  So I'm thinking of getting a new one.  We're renting it, so it's only the monthly fee that'll go up a few dollars.  Strike 3, you're out!

Oh, funny BBQ story (I was thinking about our steaks tonight, on the BBQ...you know, string of thoughts..).  We were peacefully having dinner one winter night, Seb, Jacob and I.  I have to precise here, that I live in a townhouse, so the neighbours are quite close.  So my next door neighbour (or should I say the one who lives in the other side of my living room wall) knocks on the door and she's quite agitated.  I have to precise again here that she's in her 50s, never been kissed (I suspect), living alone.  Just picture  Susan Boyle, before she got famous.  But grumpier.

So she knock, and I answer the door, and she tells me: "OMG, thank god you're there,  someone's been trying to steal your BBQ!".  I look at her, quite calm, and answer, still chewing: " Yes, it's Seb, he just cooked us chicken."  She then looks at me, in disbelief and says: "During winter?!".  Now, you might not think this funny if you don't live in Canada, but believe me, everyone can BBQ in the winter!  She went back home, looking all confused.  Seb and I chuckled all night...

Maybe we should buy her a BBQ next Christmas.

I just love Oprah

While on a trip to Walmart this week, I picked up the "O" magazine of this month.  It's all about spring cleaning.

That made me think.

I need spring cleaning too.  Not just my house.  My life.  Get rid of vaccuum friends (the ones that suck all the energy our of you), old emotions about people that used to be in my life, things that hurt me in the past, things that stress me for the future.  It's not healthy.  When the Dalaï Lama said that the purpose of our lives is to be happy, he meant that we're the only ones who have the power to acheive that.

So, no one else will make the hurt go away, no one else will make the stress go away, no one else will do it for me.  One of my favorite saying is simply: Let it go.

I will let go of the things I wish I would have done differently.  I will let go of the things I would have said differently.  Maybe that will help me move on and live my life, right now.  Not back when.

Of course, my windows will need a good washing too.

The way to achieve happiness is through helping others, so people....come over with some eco-friendly glass cleaner and a roll of recycled paper towels!

I'll get the beer :)
Good night, invisible friends xox

Pet peeve #1

Rinsing out a peanut butter jar, that my green conscience won't let me throw in the garbage.

It's an impossible task.

How about that!!  4 loyal friends think I'm interesting :)  I have to specify something, since 2 of you do not live in Canada.  When I say I live close to Ottawa, it's just across the river from the national capital.  I see the Parliament from the bank near my house.

So, a big hello to Karin (who's from Pensylvania I think), Val my coworker friend who's just too funny (say hi to your dad for me!), Chris my very loyal Farmville buddy who likes flowers a lot (he's from NC, not sure which State that is).  I'm so glad you guys are reading!  And then there's DJ Boner, I have no idea who that is!  But, hey dude!

The boyfriend's not in a good mood this morning.  Maybe he just needs his tea.  He'll come around, or I'll just ask his to go bike for a while.  That makes him the happiest.

So I thought about how to structure this blog and here's my solution.  I have none.  I'll just go along as the days pass by.  Last thing I want is to make this thing complicated.

Eh, just thought that we change the time this weekend.  Spring forward.   Every year, I rely on other people to remind me...it's that kind of thing that my brain can never absorb.  That, and birthdates.  And chiropractor appointments, taking in Christmas lights, clothes in the dryer and grocery items that escaped the list.  But, strangely, I never forget to harvest my crop in Farmville, or charge my Kindle when the battery is dead...strange how the brain works...

I'll try to do one good deed today.  And maybe take a nap.  How sweet is maternity leave when daycare has started.

Have a good day, invisible friends!

And we're off...

So, this is 2010, and I decided that I should start putting my own thoughts to paper...in a up-to-date way. For those of you who don't know who the heck I am, here's a few interesting things that make me, well, me:

My name is MJ, I'm french, and I have mommy duties.

Ok, so that doesn't say much.

I'm from the Outaouais region, which is just beside Ottawa. I'm (obviously) bilingual and I chose to blog in english, because most of you are. And because it's easier and takes less time to write my thoughts in English. I live with my fiancé and we have a 9 month old son together. Blah, blah blah....you don't really need to know ALL of it.

So, why blog...good question. I guess I decided that talking to myself is kind of passé. haha! Life is interesting, and it's like getting my own reality tv/internet thing. Maybe I won't get a single reader...haha, that would just totally beat the purpose. Other than relieve my brain of thoughts and keep my sanity on a socially acceptable level :)

So many things on my mind. And I'm so tired I wouldn't even know where to start. I'll make up my mind tomorrow. Ah, procrastination is a sweet sweet thing. At least for tonight.

Now, time to educate myself on how this website is functionning. I was late to get a FB page, I don't use Twitter and heck if I know what myspace is (I'm guessing like FB?!), but dammit, I'm blogging!

Good night, invisible friends.
