Craptastic!

It's officially my new favourite word!
This day has sucked.  Except for lunch...I had yummy thaï :)

Baby has a fever of 104.  Not fun.  Especially when Daddy is working tonight.  But we managed.  The few hours I spent with him tonight were looooong.  He would NOT be anywhere else but glued to me.  Which is nice, I have to say.  Except when he cried.  I figured he was hot so I changed him into something lighter and he was ok after that.  I even had time to eat dinner really quickly!

Gave him some Advil and put him to bed.  I think he fell asleep in less than 2 minutes.  Sweet!  He's probably going to wake up crying lots during the night, though.  That's why it's 7:35 PM and I'm going to bed very soon :)

Goodness....I'm sitting here typing and the tv is on.  At a kid's channel of course.  I just spent 2 minutes watching Rupert and was totally absorbed.  I need to get to bed....or get a life! ha!

Mom's wedding pics to come.  I don't have a lot, but there's a few I can post.  The cake turned out amazingly good!

Nighty night, sick friends!! xoxo

Free the miners!!

As of right now, 10 miners are above ground!  Still 23 to go at this time.

The 33 miners have been trapped unerground since August 5th.  That's 69 days.  When the 700,000 tons of rocks collapsed, the men spent 17 days with no contact from above ground.  They made 48 hours' worth of rations last before rescuers were able to send more food to them.

The first few men to come out were in the best medical condition.  The next 10 to be rescued will need medical attention due to hypertension, diabetes and skin ulcers.

Panic attacks during the rescue are a big concern.  They have given the miners a high calorie liquid diet designed by NASA to combat nausea.   The miners will have to be alert during their ascent in case something goes wrong.  A video camera will monitor the ascents to watch for panic attacks and a 2-way comminucation system is in place as well.  To prevent blood clotting, the miners were also given aspirin to think their blood and are wearing compresion socks.  They will also need to wear sunglasses for awhile to protect their eyes from the natural light.

The regional hospital has prepped 2 floors for care of the miners, that will be lit just like a movie theatre to accomodate them.  They will be receiving physical as well as psycholigical care.  Their ordeal is not over.

These men are not only brave, but they are victims.  Sure, they are also heros, but what happened to them shouldn't have.  I'm happy that the Chilean government is doing everything in it's power to help these men and their families to go through something like this.

Today, I will  be praying for them, as well as sending them positive energy and luck.  May God bless them all.

Vous parlez français?

Interesting article....

If you meet these stars in the street, you'd have no problem striking a conversation in French!

  • Claudia Schiffer
  • Brooke Shields
  • Orlando Bloom
  • Jodie Foster (She even wrote her Master's thesis in French!)
  • Lourdes Leon (Madonna's daughter)
  • Arnold!
  • Brendan Fraser (He even lived in Ottawa for a while)
  • Chloë Sevigny (Surprisingly, French is not her mother tongue)
  • Bryan Adams (I knew that!  He sings in French too)
  • Chris De Burg (no ne cares about that one..)

This animal is so cool!

Tired morning.  I was browsing the web when I found an article on unique marine animals...

And this one stuck with me.  I thought it wasn't real.

It's weird, but at the same time beautiful.  I thought I'd share this picture with you...it's kinda sharp!

Do you think this crab is gross or pretty??  I like it.

Grey Friday

Hi folks!!

Ah, since I'm not busy at work right now, let's see what's happening in this life of mine…

I'm now working on my mom's wedding cake. I'm a little last minute, but it can't be done that much ahead of time. I think it's going to turn out pretty :) I still have tons to do before tomorrow afternoon, gosh, I should go home right now!

We're having some drama at daycare. There's an issue with the license, which has not been delivered yet to the daycare, so right now, it's operating illegally. And it sucks because it's big, it's clean, it's safe, everything to make a good daycare. Just without the stupid paper that's taking forever to be delivered. So really, it's just a question of timing. Ugh.

I'm so nauseous, it's grey and cold outside, so I'll just stop here instead of complaining for too long and bore you to death!

Wedding news and pics to come!!!

Emotional week ahead: warning

Happy Monday, friends!

So I'm kinda scared…we have a last minute parent meeting at daycare tonight. I'm afraid they'll tell us some bad news. They are having problems with their file with the government, and I'm afraid they'll have to close down or something. I dunno, it's a bad feeling I have. The meeting is at 4h30, when we go pick up our kids, so it's pretty much last-minute-it-can't-wait-for-a-formal-meeting meeting. Uh oh.

I hope you guys had nice weekends, we had an awesome one. This time of year is my favorite, leaves are turning, the temperature is dropping to a cool comfy one, bugs are long gone and everyone is in a good mood. It's my fave season. We'll probably get married in the fall. In a few years.

This week is going to be crazy. I'm off-site at work for a 3 day mandatory training. Yuk, I hate training. Tonight, we're getting the bouquet and some decorations done for my mom's wedding. Then I have to make her cake sometime this week. I've started planning it, wow it's bit overwhelming, it has to be extra nice!  I think I'll do it over a few days so I don't feel too last minute and pressured.

Freg, I'm stressed out about the daycare meeting tonight.  I so hope I'm wrong!  I'll let you know...
